Nutrition

With so much conflicting information about nutrition and diets promising to solve all your cosmetic problems, I’d like to introduce some simplicity and sanity.

WildFit 90 Day Challenge

WildFit90

I refuse to use the word “diet” because that word simply means “what you eat,” but comes with connotations of temporary and/or drastic changes. What we’re going for are long-term, sustainable, low-stress, easy to maintain lifestyle changes around food that will have an enormous impact on your overall health.

This may seem basic (and it is), but it’s also something we struggle with in many western cultures.

What I really want to emphasize is this: a lot of the health issues we’re struggling with will be sorted out with this program. What’s left after sorting out our food and nutrition issues is where we need to do labwork and see what underlying issues still need to be worked on.

Check out the WildFit program!

{Pssst… if you want to test drive the program first, there’s a 14-day Reset that will take you through the first two weeks of the program, then you can decide whether or not it’s right for you.}

A Few Helpful Notes on Foods

This is a brief overview on foods, in general, and will have sections added periodically.

It’s an introduction to the different types of carbs and fats, what protein really is, nutrition theory in western cultures (and how it got backwards), reading labels, food allergies and sensitivities, keto diets, fasting, and tips on shopping or substituting for particular ingredients,

If you would like to start thinking about and critiquing your pantry, this is a good place to start:

The Nutrition of Color

When color-enhancers aren’t part of the mix, the colors of food can tell you a lot about what’s in the food.

Since the colors we see are wavelengths of light that are reflected, rather than absorbed, by the food we’re looking at, different colors tell us that the light is coming into contact with different elements.  The more (naturally occurring) colors you consume, the broader the nutrient spectrum is that you’re taking in, and this is very good news.

Check out this cheat sheet for understanding a bit more about what all of these colors mean:
